About Duck Recipe

Recipes we actually cook ourselves.

We started Duck Recipe because too many recipes online are written to rank in a search engine, not to work in a real kitchen. Every recipe in our library is developed, tested, and re-tested before it goes live -- and our kitchen store carries only the tools we'd put in our own drawers.

Today we run a membership recipe library alongside a small, hand-picked kitchen store, so home cooks can find both the recipe and the right tool for it in one place.

The Duck Recipe kitchen

What we stand for

Three things we don't compromise on

01

Real tested recipes

Every recipe is cooked in our own kitchen before it's published, and cooked again whenever we tweak it.

02

Foolproof for beginners

Clear ingredient lists, honest timing, and steps written so a first-time cook can follow along with confidence.

03

Hand-picked tools

Our store only carries equipment we'd recommend to a friend -- nothing added just to fill a shelf.

Our story

How we got here

Founded

Duck Recipe began as a small collection of family recipes shared with friends, with a simple rule: nothing gets published until it's been tested in a home kitchen, not a professional one.

First community cookbook feature

A handful of our early recipes were picked up and shared by home cooking communities, which pushed us to formalize our recipe-testing process and write clearer instructions.

Membership library launch

As the recipe collection grew, we launched a membership so we could keep developing and testing new recipes every week while still keeping a large share of the library free for everyone.

Kitchen store launch

Members kept asking which tools we actually used to make certain recipes work, so we opened a small store carrying only the equipment we'd recommend ourselves.

Meet the Team

The people behind the recipes

Elena Marsh

Elena Marsh

Founder & Recipe Director

Elena founded Duck Recipe eleven years ago after a decade working as a line cook and menu developer in Portland restaurant kitchens. She oversees the site's recipe standards, testing every dish at least three times before it is published and leading the seasonal menu planning that drives the site's editorial calendar. Elena studied culinary arts at a two-year program in Vermont and holds a particular fondness for braises and slow-cooked weeknight meals. She still personally answers reader questions in the comments section most Sunday mornings.

Marcus Webb

Marcus Webb

Executive Test Kitchen Chef

Marcus runs Duck Recipe's test kitchen, where he and his team retest reader-submitted recipes and refine measurements for home cooking equipment. He trained under classically French-influenced chefs in Chicago for six years before moving into food media, and he specializes in sauce work and knife-skills instruction. Marcus develops most of the site's video tutorials and has a reputation among staff for insisting on exact gram measurements rather than cups. He also mentors two rotating culinary school interns each semester.

Priya Shah

Priya Shah

Nutrition Editor

Priya is a registered dietitian with nine years of clinical and public-health nutrition experience who joined Duck Recipe to build out its nutrition-labeling and meal-planning content. She reviews every recipe's nutritional breakdown before publication and writes the site's popular monthly columns on balanced eating for families. Priya earned her master's degree in clinical nutrition and previously worked in a hospital outpatient nutrition clinic. She is especially passionate about making recipes accessible for readers managing diabetes or heart-healthy diets.

Tom Delgado

Tom Delgado

Community & Membership Manager

Tom manages Duck Recipe's paid membership program and the community forums, spending much of his week moderating discussions and organizing the site's live monthly cooking challenges. He came to Duck Recipe from a background in customer experience at a subscription meal-kit company, bringing five years of member-retention expertise with him. Tom coordinates the annual reader recipe contest and personally reviews every winning submission. He's known around the office for his encyclopedic knowledge of regional barbecue styles.
